On George R. R. Martin's book series A Song of Ice and Fire, the basis for HBO's popular Game of Thrones, Stark matriarch Catelyn was brought back to life days after the Red Wedding -- but the show has chosen to keep that ace up its sleeve. As the Season 6 finale approaches, it seems more and more likely that this could be the year Lady Stoneheart makes her appearance.

Lady Stoneheart walks in the revived body of Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) and, though she's unable to speak, she's still searching for revenge to how her children have been slayed. Considering these four signs, she could return during this Sunday's episode.

1. This season has been filled with references to Catelyn Stark.

Except for the episodes directly following the Red Wedding (which happened at the end of the ninth episode of Season 3, "The Rains of Castamere"), Game of Thrones viewers have hardly gotten any new mentions of Ned Stark's widow. Suddenly, however, that has changed.

Catelyn's son, Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), saw her death happen before his eyes in one of his visions. Later on, Catelyn's brother, the Blackfish (Clive Russell) gets a letter from Catelyn's oldest daughter, Sansa (Sophie Turner), and says she's just like her mother.

Jaime and Brienne (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Gwendoline Christie) also speak about Catelyn, discussing the Kingslayer's vow to her to bring Sansa and Arya (Maisie Williams) to safety.

Catelyn has been a constant motif throughout the season, in a way she hadn't been since she was around and kicking. This looks a lot like foreshadowing.

2. The Brotherhood without Banners is back.

In the books, these are the people who bring Catelyn back to life: Beric Dondarrion gives his life so she can be resurrected, and she then leads these outlaws and goes on a killing rampage against anyone even marginally involved in the Red Wedding. While Beric is still alive and kicking this season (played by Richard Dormer once again), this could be a red herring meant to distract from a different manner to bring in Lady Stoneheart.

3. Walder Frey is back

The worst dinner host in the history of television has just returned to the show, played once again by Harry Potter alum David Bradley. He was, of course, one of the direct responsible parties for the death of Robb Stark and his wife (Richard Madden and Oona Chaplin), which puts him in the eye of Lady Stoneheart's wrath. He could have reappeared to remind us of the Red Wedding (as if we'd ever forget).

4. Michelle Fairley was seen near the Game of Thrones set last year

Last but not least, according to iDigital Times, the actress who played Catelyn Stark for the first three seasons of GoT was seen near the Belfast set last year, alongside another actor from the saga. Nothing much came from this report at the time, but considering everything above, it seems like solid intel now.

The Game of Thrones season finale, called "The Winds of Winter" like Martin's next novel, will premiere on HBO this Sunday.
