Last year, Marvel introduced Luke Cage to its myriad street-level superheroes in the fantastic Netflix series Jessica Jones, but we've barely heard any more from the character's standalone show ever since the first teaser, which came at the end of Season 2 of Daredevil. However, it seems we'll get more Mike Colter soon -- maybe even a trailer at the San Diego Comic-Con!

According to Deadline, the standalone Luke Cage series will be heading to the major West Coast event this summer, as part of the Marvel panel. Colter himself will be attending the major event, alongside co-stars Alfre Woodward and Theo Rossi (who will play villains Mariah Dillard and Alvarez, respectively) as well as showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker.

The Luke Cage team will be bringing new footage to the San Diego Convention Center, and we should probably expect a first full-fledged trailer for the show, which will be the third in the Defenders saga on Netflix. It's unclear whether the new trailer will be available instantaneously to those

The announcement that there will be a Luke Cage panel on SDCC also comes with a bit of bad news, though: with no new filmed material and a second season possibly getting released some time in 2017, fans won't be getting anything new on Jessica Jones, and star Krysten Ritter will be absent from the major convention. There's also no word on whether Daredevil will get a third season and we haven't gotten the first official glimpse of Finn Jones as Danny Rand in Iron Fist, either.

Marvel was absent from SDCC last year, with major rival DC getting all the glory, as they released footage from their two planned 2016 films: the already released Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the upcoming villain meet-up Suicide Squad. This time around, though, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is growing at a monumental pace, and they're bringing some of their big guns for Comic-Con.

A couple of weeks ago, both Scott Derrickson and James Gunn, the directors of upcoming MCU films Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, teased via Twitter that fans could expect new revelations regarding their films on the convention.

Of course, 2017 will mark the first year Marvel Studios releases three films: The Guardians sequel, the currently filming Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok, which will begin shooting later in the summer.

Considering the studio's also releasing at least two new seasons of their Netflix series (maybe the first Iron Fist and the second for Jessica Jones) as well as more episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it's not surprising they have plenty of material to show off at SDCC.
