Weeks after filming for Spider-Man: Homecoming began, the cast for the first Marvel Cinematic Universe stand-alone film starring the web slinger keeps growing, and while we know very little about the roles so far, one new actress in the list has caught the world's attention. Newcomer Angourie Rice, fresh off her role in The Nice Guys, has just joined the film -- could she be playing Gwen Stacy?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rice is the latest actress to join the seemingly never-ending cast of Homecoming. As it has happened with every cast announcement in the past few months, details of her character are being kept under wraps, but she certainly seems to fit the physical description for Peter Parker's high school girlfriend, Gwen.

Blonde and youthful, the Australian actress could definitely pull off Gwen's look, turning into the third actress who plays the role in a Spidey live-action movie. First, Bryce Dallas Howard played the role in Spider-Man 3 and most recently, Emma Stone took over the role in the Andrew Garfield-led The Amazing Spider-Man movies. The last time we saw the character, Gwen had fallen to her death, much like it happened in the comic books.

Seeing as Homecoming will feature the new iteration of Spider-Man introduced in Captain America: Civil War, the character should still be alive and kicking now.

As far as Rice's inclusion in the film, at 15, she might be the youngest cast member so far, appropriately enough seeing as this Spidey is still in high school. The actress is fresh off a breakthrough performance accompanied by Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling in The Nice Guys, where she was directed by Shane Black -- someone who might have put in a good word for her, considering he also helmed Iron Man 3.

It seems there are new cast members announced for Spider-Man: Homecoming every week, and so far it's pretty impressive. The main cast includes Tom Holland reprising his role as the web slinger, Marisa Tomei returning as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark once again and former Batman actor Michael Keaton playing an unspecified villain role.

Other actors involved in the film include Donald Glover, Zendaya, Michael Mando, Tony Revolori and comedian Hannibal Buress; so far, only Zendaya's role has been confirmed, as she'll be playing a seemingly new character called Michelle.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently shooting, and it'll be the second out of three films Marvel Studios will release next year. It'll be out on theaters on July 7, 2017.
