Nearly 30 years after Alan Moore's Joker origin story Batman: The Killing Joke, the dark graphic novel is finally getting released, with the cast of Batman: The Animated Series returning to their iconic voice roles. Mark Hamill is one of the actors returning to DC for this one-off film, and he recently gave fans a glimpse of what to expect from his Joker.

Hamill, who just wrapped filming for Star Wars: Episode 8, is currently in London for the Star Wars Celebration, mostly talking about the galaxy far, far away -- but with the release of The Killing Joke just a few days away, the famously nice actor was taking questions on the film.

According to Games Radar, the actor started off talking about how the animated film was, true to the spirit of Moore's comic book, not made for children, saying it "earns in R-rating" over its treatment of the story, as it focuses on Batman (voiced once again by Kevin Conroy) and Batgirl (Tara Strong). He also heavily advises children not to watch it while they're this young, however excited they might be at the adaptation.

Then, magic happened: reading from a cellphone, Hamill recited a monologue from the upcoming movie, in full character, and in case you weren't dying to watch this already, his chilling performance in this clip will definitely make you want to watch this.

Batman: The Killing Joke was first published in 1988, and it told the story of how The Joker was in fact a family man and stand-up comedian, until he decided to go on a bad path and everything went bad over the course of a single day. Based on this, The Joker then kidnaps Barbara Gordon (probably without knowing she's also Batgirl) and beats her, leaving her in a wheelchair while her father, Commissioner Gordon (voiced by Ray Wise) watches, just to prove that any man can go insane after one bad day.

Much like other Moore works including Watchmen and V for Vendetta, the story has turned into a classic in the comic book genre, and fans had been waiting nearly three decades for an adaptation. Still, the original story has its controversial side, particularly over the treatment of Batgirl, but the creators have said the film version will give her a stronger back story.

The Batman: The Killing Joke movie will have its worldwide premiere this weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con, and it will later have a limited theater release for one night only on July 25, ahead of its digital release on July 26 and Blu-Ray one on August 2.
