Ahead of DC's big panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, updates regarding their upcoming big screen projects are already piling up, including the first look at two of the major characters from The Lego Batman Movie: The Joker and Robin, played by Zach Galifianakis and Michael Cera, respectively -- and they might be a bit different than you'd imagined!

Through USA Today, Warner Bros. recently released the first images from the two characters, as Batman's sidekick and worst-ever enemy make their way into adorable Lego figures.

"The Joker sees himself on the same level as Batman, a peer, at the top of the game," Chris McKay, the director of The Lego Batman Movie, says of Galifianakis' Joker. "But Batman says that's not the case, which sends Joker into a spiral trying to prove to Batman that he is indeed the greatest enemy."

As far as what Robin's like, McKay says it's something of an opposite for Batman, as it's a "super-positive kid who always sees the glass as half full." Of course, this poses a problem for the Dark Knight, who's all about fighting his battles solo.

Only a few days later, there was news from the Lego Batman Movie during the San Diego Comic-Con: a new official trailer! In keeping with Will Arnett's first appearance as the character in The Lego Movie, his Batman continues to be the same self-centered and overly intense superhero, only this time aided by hilarious versions of the characters fans have loved for decades.

In the clip, we're shown the first bits of Cera's Robin, Bruce Wayne's adoptive son, who goofs around his mentor's many costumes (including a "culturally insensitive" mariachi Batman one), until settling on a sparkly Boy Wonder one.

The cast of the upcoming Lego Batman Movie is as impressive as it can be weird at parts: Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes voices Batman's butler and father figure Alfred Pennyworth (who actually blocks his access to the computer on the trailer), Rosario Dawson plays Batgirl/Barbara Gordon and, oddly enough, pop superstar Mariah Carey is the voice of the Gotham mayor, Marion Grange.

The Lego Batman Movie is the second film from a planned series of adaptations of beloved Lego properties, following up on the 2014 summer hit Lego Movie and ahead of Ninjago. The film will premiere on February 10, 2017.
