When can one say that a prank has gone too far? Is it still funny when it causes mass hysteria? Clown killings aren't really new, they've been around ages ago but was resurrected as an amusing concept for pranks.

Sightings of recent creepy clowns started in the town of South Carolina. According to The Guardian, a young boy living at a low-income complex in Greenville saw two clowns. The boy ran very scared to his mother named Donna Arnold, Donna's son said that he had seen two brightly dressed clowns (one with red wig and the other one with black star painted on the face). The little boy explained that the two clowns had whispered to him trying to lure him to a house somewhere in the woods.

Upon police investigation, the house in the woods appeared to be abandoned with a basement that had a recent installation of a modern security system and bags of potting soil that appeared to be new.

Numerous "Killer Clown" scare prank videos have multiplied all over the internet. Youtube alone currently holds 27 pages of videos when typing "clown prank"(quite a lot of them uploaded this year), some of which shows pranks gone wrong where someone either gets physically injured (be it the prankster or the supposed prank victim), arrested or even show (may or may not be confirmed) deaths.

In a recent news article in Mail Online a person dressed as a Killer clown had left a 17-year old boy with a serious stab wounds on his head. While his father also suffered stab wounds on his hands leaving the man named Simon Chinery disabled due to his fingers being sliced with a knife.

The weapons used by these so called "Killer/Creepy clowns" seem to have intensified. What started as baseball bats became things that can actually be classified as a weapon, such as an ax, machetes, actual chainsaws, and even a flame thrower. How's that for going too far?

These clown sightings have become epidemic in a global scale. The U.S. have had clown sighting reports in more than 10 states (California, San Diego, Florida, Missouri, Ohio, North and South Carolina, Wisconsin, and the list goes on), There have been numerous reports of Creepy clown sightings in the U.K. as well (Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Bury, Plymouth, Sudbury, Clacton, and much more). It has also recently started spreading in countries such as Australia, Singapore, Netherlands and even in the Philippines.

Sure there's nothing wrong with a little prank. But when you have people with concealed identity with a lethal weapon chasing unknowing victims, more so often than not there will be consequences.

With Halloween just around the corner, how safe would anyone's children be when going out to trick or treat?
