“Supernatural” Season 12 Ep 1 Recap: Mary Winchester Meets Dean in ‘Keep Calm and Carry On

Season 12 of The CW series "Supernatural" has just started and its first episode 'Keep Calm and Carry On' gave fans an eyeful of what to expect this season. The episode began with Sam, played by Jared Padalecki, fighting for his life. Sam was shot by Toni, from the Woman of Letters.

This episode is one of the much-awaited moments of the series when Dean, played by Jensen Ackles, finally meets his mother Mary Winchester. Mary is played by guest Samantha Smith.

Celebrity Dirty Laundry mentioned in a "Supernatural" recap that 'Keep Calm and Carry On' was overwhelming for Dean. At the first sight of Mary at the woods, Dean came up to her and talked to her. He stepped closer and held a hand when Mary grabbed him. She threw Dean to the ground and then asked him where she is. Afterwards, she asked Dean who he is.

Confused, Dean told her that he was her son. Mary was also confused at his reply and said that it was impossible since Dean was just four years old. Dean told her mother that yes that was true; he was four when she died. At this point, Mary remembered how she died and even saw Sam in his nursery.

Dean further convinced Mary of his identity by providing her with information; information that was impossible for anyone to know like how Mary and John Winchester met. Mary, finally convinced, asked Dean how long was she gone. Dean replied that she has been dead for 33 years.

Pop Matters also reported that Castiel seems to be undergoing a personality change this season. He appeared from a hole in the ground like a mole and hijacked a truck.  The report said that he seemed more aggressive being controlled by Lucifer. He asked the truck driver how far he was to Lebanon, Kansas before knocking him out.

Meanwhile, Sam is being tortured by Antonia. The Woman of Letters said that she was watching the two for years and was there to help them. Toni said that Sam was dangerous and he should be locked up. She gave a long rhetoric of why she had to do this to him and asks him to give her names and locations so she could help. Sam disagrees and Toni became impatient. She leaves him with her assistant, Ms. Watts, who now turns on a blow torch to burn Sam.

Dean, Mary and Castiel was finally able to locate Sam only to rescue him after an action-packed battle with Ms. Watts. Mary stabs Watts and she dies. Sam chokes Antonia till she collapses but she was able to survive.

The group drove off using Watts' SUV to find Sam. But it's not over yet, Antonia watches Sam through her camera.

"Supernatural" season 12 episode 2 entitled "Mama Mia" will air on October 20, Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
