Nintendo is rumored to be preparing for a grand announcement of their long-awaited Nintendo NX, this week on October 21. The NX had earlier being associated with Nintendo's Wii U and probably it's the successor to the Wii U, but the kind of features expected in this device somewhat puts it in a whole new league of competitors.

The NX will come as a portable console just like the Wii U and DS consoles, only this time bigger. Appearing at the boom of 4K displays, the Nintendo NX is also expected to feature this new type of display and allow for online movie streaming from sites like Netflix.

According to iTech Post, this console might enter the market officially in early 2017, almost certainly in March. Virtual reality is sort of creeping in on portable gaming consoles and there is a possibility that the NX might also feature a VR upgrade. Augmented Reality capabilities combined with the NX's 4K display will mean real life gaming scenes, something that gamers can't resist. The design specs of the device haven't been released yet, but of course we expect that the NX will have a more ergonomic build than what we know in the Wii U.

CNET was a bit hoodwinked, judging from their argument that this console might want to fight back against what Sony and Microsoft are doing with their consoles. There is no way the NX is going to stand up against Sony's PlayStation 5 or Microsoft's Xbox One. These are two mammoths wrestling hard-heartedly next to a kid trying to imitate Robin Hood with a wooden sword. All the same, we should as a minimum recognize Nintendo's continuous efforts to improve their consoles, especially now that 4K displays have come into their way.

The pricing of the NX is expected to be between $150 and $300, we can't really be sure. If all goes well the console will also feature a new generation of Nintendo's traditional Mario game. The console might also be released together with other Nintendo game upgrades like the new Legend of Zelda game.
