It looks like it will be a long and complicated custody battle for divorcing couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. When Angelina filed for divorce September 19, she asked for full legal and physical custody of all their six children and citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. However, recently Brad decided to counter his former wife and asked for joint legal and physical custody.

Perez Hilton explains how this simple decision might make way for a long custody showdown. His blog featured an explanation from divorce attorney Christopher Melcher who talked about what could happen next especially since the two just can't seem to agree on custody.

Melcher said that having two completely different decisions on custody could mean that settlement negotiations are failing between the two. The famous divorce lawyer said that if Brad does not agree on how he gets to spend time with his kids then it is up to him to go to court and request for a custody order.

It was also reported by an insider that Jolie is now solely focused on her children. She has quit working and travelling just to support her children minus her staff of helpers and nannies.

In an update released by Fox News, Angelina and Brad's six children will remain in the custody of their mother. A representative of Angelina Jolie said that this was a joint agreement reached by the divorcing couple. Included in the agreement is allowing Brad to have "therapeutic visits" with their children. Aside from these details there were no other comments provided by Angelina's staff.

Brad Pitt has filed a legal response to the divorce last Friday and also cited irreconcilable differences. His filing did not include any other details of their separation and how they will divide their assets. This new agreement decided upon by the two actors may not be the final arrangement for custody of their six children.
