Looks like Nokia is all set to return to the smartphone market and this time in a totally new form. The next generation Nokia handsets will be Android-powered and based on leaked photos online, will look similar to a Finnish iPhone. Nokia is said to announce its new gadgets before the end of the year.

Forbes reported on Nokia's new Android phones and it said that HMD global Oyj has licensed the Nokia brand name. the report also included an exclusive image of the new phones thanks to Phandroid's Quentyn Kennemer. In the photo, the rear chassis plate of the smartphone was shown with a Nokia logo. The plate obviously had two cut outs possibly one for the rear camera and the other one for the phone's flash. There were two silicon strips, one on top and the other one on the bottom of the plate. These are rumored to be for the phone's antenna.

Those who have seen the photo commented that it was kind of minimalistic typical of a standard Nokia handset. Some even said that the designers took inspiration from the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.

Aside from its new Android phone launch at the end of the year, Nokia is also reinventing itself after it recently acquired Withings. The company is a developer of wearable health care devices. According to a report from Helsinki Times, Nokia has ditched its mobile phone business to Microsoft in 2014 to venture into more viable markets. Rajeev Suri, chief executive of Nokia said that it is important for the company to adapt to changes to sustain its operations.

Meanwhile, consumers should remember that the return of Nokia to the mobile handset market is not really the return of the company. HMD acquired the name Nokia as well as brand requirements and minimum device performance levels but Nokia is not involved with daily business relations of HMD. The handset hardware will be manufactured and distributed by FIH Mobile.
