“Steven Universe” S4 E8 Will Air This November: New Holiday Episodes & Air Date Confirmed!

"Steven Universe" fans can now sleep tight knowing that their favorite Cartoon Network animated series is finally back. Creators of the show has revealed that "Steven Universe" season 4 episode 8 will air this November 17 with an exciting 22-minute long episode entitled 'Gem Harvest.'

Chatt Sports Net reported the wonderful news adding the plot to 'Gem Harvest.' In the episode, Steven and the gems get ready for Thanksgiving and they try to bring about gem-like characteristics to vegetables. As they did this, they were able to make a pumpkin come to life. And Steven, who's always ready to give a helping hand, tries to help the pumpkin and his owner.

Aside from 'Gem Harvest' there will also be new episodes on the way. This was officially announced in Cartoon Network's Twitter page. One of these episodes is 'Three Gems and a Baby' which is rumored to center around Steven and Greg Universe. It will be about Steven and his dad and of course the Crystal Gems' first winter together.

Meanwhile, Den of Geek talked about another issue that surrounds "Steven Universe" and that is its active representation of the LGBTQ community in its well-loved characters. While we can all relate that all the gems in the series are women or female, creators of the show explains that gems are actually neither male or female.

Gems fuse together to form more powerful gems just like the case of Garnet, one of Steven's guardians. Garnet is a fusion of Ruby and Sapphire which appear to look like women. However, the two are seen to be very affectionate with each other and in fact several episodes, they even twirl around, kiss and flirt. Take note that Sapphire and Ruby's fusion defies gem culture since it does not allow fusion between other types of gems.

The report called it "canonical lesbian relationship" and the gems' fusion a metaphor for the LGBTQ communities everywhere. This is a celebration of their love and relationship despite being frowned upon by many groups.

Still there are more "canonically gay" characters as described by the Den of Geek report. It also added the relationship of Rose Quartz and Pearl as well as Jasper and Lapis' to the list.

"Steven Universe" season 4 episode 8 'Gem Harvest' is just a few days away. It will air on November 17 at Cartoon Network.
