In the effort to lessen drunk drivers especially this coming holiday seasons, authorities in a small town of Canada are using Nickelback to punish law offenders. This is to say that those caught drunk driving will be made to listen to Nickelback songs all the way to the police station.

The police authorities in the small town of Kensington, Canada made the announcement on their Facebook page with an accompany photo of Nickelback's Silver Side Up album. Additionally, the drunk drivers will need to pay a fine and, have their driver's license suspended for a year and be criminally charged.

MSN reports that the post by the Kensington police was only a joke and when Constable Robb Hartlen was interviewed, the Nickelback album they used in their post was only taken off the internet. Hartlen confirms that he has no copy of the said Nickelback album. He adds that one of the reasons they chose the band was because Chad Kroeger, the lead of Nickelback has a record of drunk driving.

Additionally, the Kensington Police wanted the people to take the message seriously so they added humor in their post because doing so will make them more relatable. Hartlen adds that despite Nickelback's rep of being known as having the "worst music," he actually enjoys the songs. While many people say they hate Nickelback, most of it is attributed to being influenced by what is trending on social media.

The drunk driving announcement was posted earlier in November but since the news broke, the post has been taken down by the Kensington Police Service. Neither Chad Kroeger nor any of the Nickelback band members have commented on the news.

Do you think Chad Kroeger and the rest of the Nickelback are angry at the post? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
