The well-known Miami Heat Center Hassan Whiteside stated that the Portland Trailblazers was his second free agency option. Apparently the Blazers showed some interest on Whiteside in free agency but is seems that the NBA star had other plans.

Signing a four year maximum contract with the Miami Heat was worth approximately $98 million, the Blazers looked out for Whiteside but things went the other way round. He seems to be well off with the Heat continuing his game keeping up to his four year contract as per Miami Herald.

It also turns out that the Trailblazers have the worst defensive rating in the NBA, they certainly could have used Whiteside's shot blocking and maybe that was exactly what they were looking for. However, they have also opted to re - sign Moe Harkless, Meyers Leonard and Allen Crabbe as stated by CBS Sports.

The Trailblazers re-signed all of its top free agents including two stars Festus Ezeli and Evan Turner form other teams. They were surely satisfied with their players which led them to re-sign them all and Whiteside was just another option.

Evan on the other hand was signed with the Trailblazers for $70 million and for four years. With the trade undone questions still arose on Whiteside's capability on fixing the Trailblazers defense. While some say that it is possible that he would have been the perfect match and some believe he would have done better with the Trailblazers.

Whiteside is famous for his blocks and he seems to be doing perfectly well for his four year contract with his current team. It was almost on the verge of happening but unfortunately the Trailblazers will not be seeing Whiteside as of now.

For all the Whiteside lovers, the star's latest jersey is up on Amazon along with his NBA action photo and Miami Heat Tee.
