The Game Awards this week was filled with entertainment and one of the highlights was the release of the second trailer for Hideo Kojima's newest game "Death Stranding." Famed director Guillermo Del Toro sent out a series of tweets with one of them calling out Konami in reference to their cutting ties with Kojima and the cancellation of "Silent Hills."

"Silent Hills" was apparently Kojima's last work for Konami but it was canceled right after a playable teaser (PT) of the game was released. The game was supposed to a horror survival game that featured Norman Reedus from "The Walking Dead" and Del Toro who is known for his talents in horror film-making which undoubtedly would have made "Silent Hills" a critical success for Konami.

Del Toro congratulated Kojima for his award this week in one of his tweets. The director even called out Konami for being "moronic" for canceling "Silent Hills" after the PT. Kojima responded to the tweet with a gratitude for Del Toro who he considers his friend. Earlier this year, Reedus also posted a photo on Instagram featuring Kojima looking to be sipping on a cup labeled "Konami" tears.

Shack News reports that Kojima wasn't able to attend last year's Game Awards because Konami apparently forbid the Japanese developer from going. So it was only until this year when Kojima was given by Geoff Keighley his Industry Icon Award for his work on the "Metal Gear" series.

"Death Stranding" is Kojima's newest game under Kojima Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is meant to be an open world action video game which features Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen of NBC's "Hannibal" according to its second trailer. "Death Stranding" will be PS4-exclusive but there is no official release date yet.

Since letting Kojima go, Konami has stopped putting the budget for big gaming development and has apparently focused more on gambling. The latest on the "Metal Gear Solid" series is Konami creating a spinoff for it much to the disappointment of major fans.
