Microsoft, the tech giant has confirmed the release date of Xbox Scorpio in 2017 earlier. However, enthusiasts are keenly interested on its price tag and specs. Recent reports claims that the Microsoft hinted on the Xbox Scorpio's possible price tag and is expected to boom-in with a price tag close to Sony's PS4 Pro.

According to Express UK, it is reported that Microsoft's Phil Spencer in an interview made clear statements that the company wants to compete with consoles and not PCs upon hearing the rumors of Xbox Scorpio was similar to a high-end PC worth thousands of dollars.

Spencer stated "I want the Scorpio to be at a console price-point. I'm not trying to go and compete with any high-end rig, and because we're building one spec, we are able to look at the balance between all the components and make sure that it's going to be something we really hit that matters towards the consumers and gamers."

It is reported that the Xbox Scorpio is stated to be the most powerful console ever created as per Spencer. It currently holds 6 teraflops of GPU, a massive 4K gaming experience, and a support to Virtual Reality functionalities.

Spencer stated that Xbox One Scorpio is on right track to handle true native 4K unlike the Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro console, which won't be able to handle true native 4K. Xbox Scorpio is expected to take six teraflops of power and Microsoft believes that 4.2 teraflops are not sufficient to do true 4K resolution.

"I think there are a lot of caveats they're giving customers right now around 4K. They're talking about checkerboard rendering and up-scaling and things like that.

"They're going to be able to decide to take that six teraflops of power and do what they think is best for their game. But I know that 4.2 teraflops is not enough to do true 4K."

As per the report, Xbox Scorpio will hit the gaming market with a price tag higher than that of Xbox One S, whose price tag is £250. But, the Xbox Scorpio will head-in with a price very close to Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro, whose retail price is £349. Microsoft has not made any official statement on its price. Few rumors hints that it will be priced around £400.

Spencer states "It will cost more than the S, obviously, that's how we are building it. We have not announced the exact pricing just yet, but I want to make sure that the investment that we are putting into the product of the Xbox Scorpio would be able to meet the demands of the higher-end consumers, and that will be a higher price."
