Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro a real competitor to MacBook Pro 2016?

Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant is all set to unveil its new laptop under a new series called Mi Notebook Pro. Already invites for the upcoming launch event are sent out which will be held tomorrow i.e. December 23, 2016.

Xiaomi hit the tech market with its new product Mi Notebook Air in July, 2016 which was widely associated with Apple's MacBook Air in terms of its design and name. So, speculations are made that the new product from Xiaomi will have specs and features similar to Apple Macbook Pro 2016.

According to Xiaomi Today, it is reported that the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro will arrive in two variants with 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch screens with 4K resolution display. The device is expected to be equipped with an Intel i7-6700HQ processor, which is based on 14nm process technology and clocks four cores up to 3.5Ghz, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M GPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB storage.  Also, report suggests that the configuration makes the device ideal for hardcore gaming as well.

It is reported that the high-end Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro will have a price tag of ¥6,000; Apple's MacBook Pro 2016 3x more expensive, indeed comes with exclusive features like Touch Bar, which may not feature in the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro.

According to The Verge, it is reported that the users of the new Macbook Pro are disappointed with the battery life and some users are switching their attention towards Microsoft Surface Pro. Report states that the company was hoping to use a higher-capacity battery that was form-fit to the inside of the computer. But the design is said to have failed a "key test," leading Apple to scrap those plans and ship the laptop with an older battery design.
