The NES Classic Edition was a massive success for Nintendo, but it may be more successful if more units of the tiny console had been manufactured.

The NES Classic was sold out almost immediately, the stock was limited to a handful and was sold out in minutes. Nintendo is expected to realize from this mistake as to how much profit it left after such a small stock.

The NES Classic was shipped with 30 games and absolutely no option to add more to it, and in the process leaving the door wide open for NES Classic 2. A new Trademark proposes Nintendo to jump to the next generation and providing a SNES Classic Edition.

As revealed by Go Nintendo, trademark was filed by Nintendo for a Super Famicom controller image. It is just a way renewing protection for the controller design, with Nintendo already revisting the NES and profiting decently from it, the most likely reason could be a new Super Famicom/SNES product is in the works.

For now users can hope this trademark is indeed the first public hint that a SNES Classic is being recently worked on. It highly unlikely that it'll appear in early 2017 as Nintendo will focus on marketing the switch during and after the March launch.

Although, a SNES Classic is expected to launch in holiday time next year makes quite a lot of sense as it is a perfect stocking filler gadget. The most difficult hurdle for Nintendo is whether the SNES Classic indeed exist, which of the 30 games to include in it?

Mario Zelda, Kirby, F Zero, Metroid, Mario Kart and Star Fox are all pretty obvious inclusions in this, but there have to be few more games who would make it on to the shortlist to ensure this edition is another must have for the users.
