AMD finally set to show off its Vega graphics platform at CES 2017. Vega is built upon a new architecture and acting as a sequel to the mainstream-focused Polaris. Various rumors about Vega suggest that it will be powerful and should offer solid competition for Nvidia's top-end graphics processors (GPU).

A little light leakage is always expected before a big new hardware release and, they don't get bigger than the unveiling of their new Vega GPU architecture. So it will be fitting there's been some feature discharge ahead of the Vega architecture preview at CES. As the New Year dawned, AMD has launched a surprise wee teaser site and trailer for their new AMD Vega graphics tech.

Apparently this means that once again Vega will offer high-end performance, but at a decent price point. This may be difficult to swing if AMD is hoping to offer GTX-1080-beating performance in a variety of games and benchmarks, but conventionally it has offered the more cost-effective graphics solutions, reports PC Gamesn.

The teased video itself wants you to "make some noise," for Vega and encourages fans to visit the Vega microsite, which for now simply features the video above and a countdown timer. It's counting down to January 5.

We already knew previously we would be getting a new compute unit with Vega, but the image confirms that the new Vega Next Compute Unit naming. Offering twice the peak throughput per clock and 8x the VRAM capacity per stack, probably over their previous generations of top-end graphics architecture, it reads like a who's who of high-end GPU tech.

And that is also important as the Vega needs to kick off with a proper high performance GPU to really take the fight to Nvidia with their expected GTX 1080 Ti, which will be unveiling this month. Although in the CES 2014 AMD already has a running system with Ryzen CPU and Vega GPU at the CES 2017 show floor.
