Reigning NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers has acquired guard Kyle Korver from the Atlanta Hawks.

The Cavaliers gave up guard Mo Williams, guard/forward Mike Dunleavy, some cash considerations and a first round draft pick in 2019, Fox Sports reported. The trade was announced by General Manager David Griffin on Saturday at the Cleveland Clinic Courts.

Griffin said that Korver will add a 3-point game arsenal to the team and hailed the latter as a team player.

"Among the most prolific and dynamic three-point shooters in NBA history, a selfless, and team first competitor, Kyle brings all of the elements of Cavs DNA that we covet on and off the floor. We look forward to welcoming Kyle, his wife, Juliet and their three children to Northeast Ohio and are certain our fans will embrace them with open arms," he said.

Korver's former coach Mike Budenholzer thanked Korver for his services. The 35-year-old shooter is currently averaging 9.5 points on a 40.9 percent shooting clip on the 3-point line.

LeBron James said that nabbing Korver is a great move for the team. However, he went to say that despite the move, the Cavs will still need another point guard to spruce up their rotation.

The move comes a day after the Cavs shipped their first round pick to the Portland Trail Blazers which gave them a protected 2018 first-round pick. The Cavs kept this 2018 pick and gave up their 2019 first-round pick in this trade.

If the 2019 pick is protected and will be unused by the Hawks within two years, the pick will become second-round picks for them in 2021 and 2022, ESPN reported.

Korver could make his debut in Cavs uniform on their next game against Phoenix and later when the team heads out to west which will conclude with a matchup against the Golden State Warriors. For his part, Korver said that he is excited to join his new team and said that the opportunity is great for him in a basketball perspective.
