HMD Global Launches First Android Smartphone, Nokia 6 With Nougat & SD-430 In China

Nokia has announced, back in December that it would be returning to the smartphone market at some point in 2017 with a new Android handset. The company has also confirmed that it will be releasing the Nokia 6 this year. However, it's only available in China.

HMD Global, a Finnish company, which was founded to develop phones under the Nokia brand name, said in a press release that the phone will only be available in China through retailed JD.com. However, the release did mention that the Nokia 6 was the first step for the company, and there would be more Android powered Nokia to come this year.

The company has outlined that the phone was machined out of aluminum, and featured a 2.5D Gorilla Glass screen. Phone sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with X6 LTE modem. The have the tremendous 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Nokia 6 runs an Android's latest Nougat operating system.

The Nokia 6 features a Gorilla Glass protected and an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 505 GPU. It also has Quick Charge 3.0, which replenishes battery power four times faster than conventional charging. The 16MP rear camera has an f/2.0 aperture and PDAF laser auto focusing. In front there is an 8MP camera, also featuring an f/2.0 aperture, for selfies and video chats, reports India Today.

The Nokia 6, which announced by HMD Global on Sunday, will be available firstly in China only for a price tag of 1699 CNY (roughly INR 16,739 or $250), with no word on global availability and pricing for now.

Finland-based HMD will be manufacturing the Nokia's upcoming phones -- for ten years in a row -- in partnership with Foxcon. This is the same company that also makes Apple's iPhones. HMD will invest a minimum of 500 million Euros in marketing in the first three years alone and will generally deal with developing and selling all Nokia-branded smartphones and accessories.
