Singer, pianist Buddy Greco dies at 90

Armando "Buddy" Greco, a jazz pianist and a singer who recorded more than 60 albums, has died at 90; a family friend of him reported the news on Facebook. The cause of Greco's death is still unknown.

The Lady Is A Tramp has been the most hit version of the track by him and sold over one million copies. His recordings in different genres have sold over a million copies. At the age of four, he started singing on radio and when he was 6, he started playing piano. On reaching 16, Greco was hired to sing on tour with Goodman's orchestra as reported by HollywoodReporter. He left the band when he was 20 and started singing in nightclubs. His popular songs include Ain't She Pretty, Up-Up And Away, Oh Look A-There, Mc Arthur Park, The More I See You and Around The World.

In an interview, Greco said that he was offered jobs with much more money but his dad wanted him to work with Goodman. He said - "My father said, 'You go with Mr. Goodman and learn your craft, and you're going to thank me". In the later years, Greco continued to tour the world and did several gigs in Las Vegas and after moving to England he did extensive solo tours. He also produced the stage show Fever! The Music Of Miss Peggy Lee.

Buddy Greco hosted his own special TV show and starred with comedian George Carlin and drummer Buddy Rich on the show Away We Go. Greco met Lezlie Anders at the Desert Inn, where she was a lounge singer and they married in 1965.

Talking of its personal life, Greco married five times. He married to Sally Baionno in 1947, Dani Crayne in 1962, Margret Kinley in 1971, Jackie Sabatino in 1977 and Lezlie Anders in 1995. Currently, his wife Anders and seven children are surviving him.
