Volvo revolutionized automobile industry in 1963 when it launched a 3-point "Safety Belt" generally known as seat belt today. The company is now introducing "Drive Me" autonomous research project that loads cars with self-driving capabilities.

The company is using its autonomous driving technology into its cars and they are linking up the car with Uber making redundant system in autonomous-driving cars. The company has now reached the phase of their "Drive Me" project in which they are recruiting families from Gothenburg, Sweden to test out their immensely potential technology as reported on Volvo's Official Site. The testing process will take place on local roads and drivers will be able to integrate themselves with the autonomous driving technology in their everyday lives.

Volvo wants to introduce the technology at a much larger scale by 2021 and this testing will help the company's engineers to gather data and feedback from the drivers that will allow any changes and enhancements in the final version. The company has decided to choose North America International Auto Show to hand over the keys of its "Drive Me" equipped vehicles that includes a fleet of Volvo XC90 and S90 reports cNet.

The first lucky family to test this technology is the Hains. The vehicles they will be driving will be equipped with sensors and data loggers to monitor the drivers and other passengers. These cars will be able to 'see' other vehicles and hazards on the road. The cars will be able to able to report about what is happening in their vicinity and on the road ahead, all in real time.

"We're looking at the technology side, but also the human side of things. We're trying to focus on the usage and see how these vehicles can enhance people's lives," as said by Victor. Volvo is still in the process of recruiting families for testing out its technology and residents of Gothenburg can visit Volvo's website to participate.
