Apple products are very well known in the world. Starting from their Macbooks to their Iphones and smart watches, if you want something tech related, Apple always have something for you in their product line. Just last year, Apple Airpods made a successful debut to the market. But if there is an underrated Apple product, it would be the Apple iMac.

Unlike the Apple Iphone, which receives updates and new models every year, the Apple iMac's latest update can be dated back to October 13, 2015 in which the screens are upgraded into Retina-class screens. This makes sense, as Apple's portable products is where Apple is known for, reliable Macbook, reliable iPhone and so on..

Tim Cook, Apple's CEO said in this transcript that desktop computers are better in performance. The advantages of a desktop computer, according to Cook, is the screen sizes, memory, storage and more variety in I/O, which makes desktop really important, and in some cases critical, to people. It looks like Apple isn't really abandoning its desktop product line.

It seems like Cook's statement sounds like a new update for iMac this year. If based on Apple's update cycle, the update might take place June this WWDC 2017. It might also contain Intel's newly chip, the Kaby Lake. If the update will happen on the later part of the year, it might house Cannonlake, which is to be released on the second half of 2017.

Kaby Lake i7-7700, which is the expected model to be on next iMac, supports Thunderbold 3, USB 3.1 and DisplayPort 1.2, so might as well expect that for the iMac update. According to Macworld, the chip is 4.2GHz and can be oveclocked up to 4.8GHz.

If ever Apple will choose AMD processors for its next iMac, Macworld also predicted that they might use AMD's Zen processors. The Zen processor houses a beasty 8 cores and 16 threads.

The next iMac is believed to be housing graphics chips from AMD's Polaris set. Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 is said to appear on "new desktops and notebooks from Apple, which the company plans to bring to market later this year, according to WCCF Tech. These new iMacs might also come with Virtual Reality support included in default.

It is also rumored that iMacs might replace Macbooks. Is this a new era for Apple? We'll find out soon.
