"Avengers: Infinity War" is set for May 4, 2018 and fans can hardly contain their excitement. The producers are pretty tight-lipped about the plot, however, moviegoers know that it will be a massive movie where worlds will collide when the Avengers attempt to stop Thanos. The producers have also just recently revealed that it will be an intergalactic war on an entirely new level, far, far away from Earth.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe began officially in 2008 with "Iron Man". It has since expanded to include major Marvel comic book superheroes. This is why the biggest "Avengers" movie is one of the most heavily-anticipated films. It's going to feature tons of favorite superheroes. In fact, there are going to be 68 known characters in both Part 1 and 2.

Realm-hopping in "Avengers: Infinity War"

Comicbook interviewed Charles Wood, the production designer for "Avengers: Infinity War". Wood worked on "Doctor Strange" and, when he got the script for the next "Avengers" film, he couldn't contain his excitement and terror. The film promised to be a colossal project.

"There are many, many, many new worlds to see in this film," Wood said. While most of the Marvel films had been set on Earth, "Thor" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" paved the way for some inter-realm action. This means that fans could potentially witness the Avengers doing some planet-hopping in "Avengers: Infinity War".

"Thor: Ragnarok" itself will be set mostly off-world on an intergalactic road trip. The movie will set the stage for the next "Avengers" film. Theories are flying around about Cate Blanchett's character, Hela, who might also have a major role in "Avengers: Infinity War".

Peter Dinklage could appear as the villain MODOK

Aside from Hela, another character rumored to appear is MODOK. This speculation circulated when reports surfaced that Peter Dinklage from the "Game of Thrones" series will be part of the "Avengers: Infinity War" cast. ScreenRant wrote that Dinklage could portray Pip the Troll or, most likely, MODOK.

Back in 2011, the screenwriter for "Captain America: Winter Soldier" wanted to see MODOK in the Marvel films. He went on to say that he wanted to cast actor Peter Dinklage as the villain. Since MODOK didn't appear in the second "Captain America" film, it's possible that he could appear in "Avengers: Infinity War".

The producers haven't confirmed this yet, but it's a very possible theory. Meanwhile, fans will be able to see their favorite Marvel superheroes this year in "Spider-Man: Homecoming", "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2", "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Black Panther". Now that's a lot of movies to whet the appetite while "Avengers: Infinity War" is still in the beginning of production.
