"Clash of Clans" users must log on to community forum accounts now and change their passwords. The Supercell developer, which created the popular games like "Clash of Clans", "Hay Day", "Boom Beach" and "Clash Royale", was hacked last September 2016. The staff sent out emails yesterday to its users to change their account and password because of the security breach.

Facebook Page Compromised

This is not the first time that the game developer was hacked. Its "Clash of Clans" and "Hay Day" Facebook pages were compromised by a Syrian hacker in 2014. It didn't sound so ominous until the hacker also revealed that he or she was able to hack into the pages' revenue numbers and internal audience data.

The hacker, Ethical Spectrum, said that he or she hacked the pages because Supercell did not listen to his or her advice on tightening security. Spectrum accordingly also found the CEO's email address.

Supercell Forums Hacked By Unknown Entity

The September breach was on a different level, though. Supercell told Motherboard that more than one million user accounts from the community forums were compromised.

The game company said that the problem had been fixed, but the hack terrified many users who feared for their security. Aside from the mail address and username, hackers were able to see the user's IP address and hashed passwords.

Supercell clarified that the "Clash of Clans" hack only affected the community forums. The game accounts are still safe. According to Express UK, Supercell sent its users an email message about the hack and how they can securely change their passwords. The email also urged users to change their passwords on other accounts if they're using the same email and password combination.

A lot of high profile companies and personalities suffered huge hacking attacks in the recent years. In 2014, Sony Pictures was hacked and many private details from the accounts of their top executives were compromised. In 2013, the Yahoo! Network suffered a hack that affected 1 billion user accounts.
