'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Finale Update: Nina Dobrev Addresses Elena Gilbert's Return

"The Vampire Diaries" preparing is coming to its end sooner and still, Nina Dobrev's comeback has not yet happened. Will she return to join her old cast mates in the series big finale?

Since Nina Dobrev exited "The Vampire Diaries" at the end of season 6, she has been heavily anticipated to return for at least one episode during the final season. And finally, Nina addressed the issue surrounding the possibility of Elena Gilbert's return to the TV series.

Nina Dobrev explained it herself that fans are going to have to endure a bit longer to find out if Elena Gilbert is coming back to the show, according to Huffington Post. Dobrev is very busy traveling the globe in promoting her new movie, "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage."

In one of the red carpet premieres, the questions turned to whether Dobrev would come back for "The Vampire Diaries" series finale on March 10. Nina, as expected, gave the safest answer and explanation.

"I haven't ever told secrets in the past and I'm definitely not going to start now," she explained. "Sorry guys, I'm not allowed to talk about that."

This might not be the answer most are hoping for, but Nina's ambiguous answer strongly suggests that something exciting will happen for Elena Gilbert. Her non-confirmation does not mean shutting down the possibility of her comeback to "The Vampire Diaries" final season. Maybe, she is just following the orders from show runners to keep silent for the awaited finale.

"The Vampire Diaries" series creator Julie Plec was very open about wanting Nina back. "I want to see this character to its end at the end of the show, so I can't wait to come back and put her to bed again," Plec explained at the time of Nina's announced exit, according to BuddyTV.

Currently, Nina is focusing on making more films at the height of her career.
