'Kingdom Hearts 3' Will Have New Game Features and Disney Worlds; 'KH 2.8' Out on Jan. 24!

Kingdom Hearts 3 will not be coming this year, but the developers have dropped hints in the past few months. While a release date hasn't been confirmed yet, some gameplay features and worlds have been revealed. Kingdom Hearts 2 was released back in 2005. It's been more than a decade and fans are already excited to join Sora on his next adventure.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will be out this January 2017

Before Kingdom Hearts 3 will be made availabe, though, the developer will release "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" on Jan. 24, 2017. It had already been released in Japan on Jan. 12. Famitsu interviewed Series Director Tetsuya Nomura, who revealed a lot of spoilers about the highly-awaited third game. In the interview, translated by Kingdom Hearts Insider, Nomura said that KH 2.8 is going to be vital to the third story.

Other Disney worlds are set to appear in the third game. "Big Hero 6" and "Tangled" are included, but will Marvel franchises also make it to the movie, like "Iron Man" or "Thor"? It hasn't been confirmed yet, but players will still see Twilight Town, Mt. Olympus, Land of Departure, and Kingdom of Corona (from the world of "Tangled"). The Realm of Darkness will be in KH 2.8, but not in Kingdom Hearts 3.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will contain new gameplay features and worlds

The developers said that they don't work on all the worlds at the same time, so new worlds will still be added at a later date. Meanwhile, fans will remember that the Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer released in 2015 revealed some new game features.

According to VG24, the third game will include Attraction Flow, which is taken from Disney theme parks like the spinning tea-cup rides. There will be Situation Commands in the game, but they will be limited to specific battle situations, so players have to wait for more announcements.

Sora will also be able to trigger his Keyblade transformations during fights. In an effort to give Kingdom Hearts 3 more "valiant, dynamic movements", the game developers have given Sora the ability to run along walls.
