Even before the inauguration day, we saw some form of protests as some performers declined invitations to perform in the Inauguration Concert. A week before the inauguration, data from Google Trends indicates that 31 states are googling the protests more than the actual inauguration. And nearly half of the states where Trump dominated in votes during the election is reportedly googling for "inauguration protests" more than "attend inauguration".

Perhaps, the most notable protest happened on Washington, where 217 people are arrested according to CNN. DC Fire Spokesman Vito Maggiolo reported that there are at least two DC police officers and one civilian who were taken to the hospital after run-ins with protesters. Fortunately, the injured only get minor injuries and not considered life threatening.

There are unfortunate clashes near Bank of America DC branch and McDonald's just before the inauguration and around 150 protesters are said to be involved. The group chanted "hands upm don't shoot" as they were retreating back. Some protesters used chunks of pavement that has been broken and thrown those pieces as missiles, as reported by Sky.

"We want to stand firm in the face of injustice, and we want to let Donald Trump and our entire federal government know, as well as state governments, that we are determined to see things changed," said Lauren Footman, 25, a community organizer who is staging an afternoon Rally for Humanity at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial to resist what she called the "forces of intolerance."

This is not the first time that an Inauguration went on with a lot of protests. Former President Richard Nixon's first and second term Inauguration day are flooded with protests with demonstrations over the Vietnam War. Former President George W. Bush had the same scenery before, with protesters holding signs that includes "Hail To The Thief".
