As "Vikings" Season 4 gears for its finale, Ragnar's sons band to exact revenge on King Aelle, their father's sworn enemy and storm Northumbria with the biggest Viking army in history. King Ecbert seems to be their next target.

In the last episode titled "Revenge," Ragnar Lothbrok's sons unite for a common goal - to exact revenge against the the arrogant King Aelle for killing their father.  As Viking kings in their own right, Ivar and Bjorn ensure that the king, who at first expressed confidence that he would defeat the Great Heathen Army, was put in his rightful place - dragged by a carriage and executed in graphic fashion in the place where he ended Ragnar's life.

The recap posted by Entertainment Weekly noted that Ragnar's body was nowhere to be found as the Vikings were set to execute King Aelle and it was theorized that his corpse was either taken by his enemies or his supporters.

The episode however hinted at some conflict between King Ecbert and his son Aethelwulf, who doubted is father's love and regard for him. In the episode entitled "On the Eve," it is expected that King Ecbert and Aethelwulf will device a concrete battle plan against Ragnar's son's army and is set up to be the major battle that will usher in the season finale,  entertainment site.

This promises to be an interesting development because prior to Ragnar's death, he told his son Ivar avenge him by targeting King Ecbert, with whom he shares a unique rivalry and respect, The Hollywood Reporter posted.

Viewers are also expected to witness how Kattegat's new queen Lagertha will defend her home against the forces of Harald. The battle promises to be one sided in favor of the former shieldmaiden as Harald is not expected to be a threat.
