Android Smartwatch: Tag Heuer's Android Wear 'Connected 2.0' Release Date And Specs

Swiss watch and fashion accessories manufacturer Tag Heuer launched its Android wear smart watch 'Heuer Connected' in 2015 with successful results. The first model of Android smartwatch earned enough market for Tag Heuer that led to the idea of updated version of Android wear. 'Connected' is a luxury, distinguished and fashionable watch that attracted customers from around the world.

According digitaltrends, Tag Heuer Chief Executive Officer Jean Claude Biver confirmed to Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung that upcoming Smart Android Watch has not been named yet but the second generation watch will be released in May, 2017.

In 2015, Biver mentioned late 2016 or the beginning of 2017 for the launch of second generation 'Connected' Android wear. Although Biver did not disclosed any further details of the Android watch but he said that the new Android watch will be equipped with advanced GPS system with accuracy of up to One meter.

Biver indicated that their device will have improved battery life and efficiency, enhanced display, better wireless receiver and NFC. Google's updated Operating system will power Android Wear 2.0 that is expected to be shipped around February this year. The watch will have stand-alone function which will enable it to work when not connected to a phone. Improved features, App support and user friendly settings will make it a first choice in the market. Text messages are also made easy in the new Android Wear 2.0

Different editions of the smartwatch may have different prices but the existing Tag Heuer device was initially priced at US$ 1500. According to reports, Tag Heuer has shipped 56,000 units of their Android Wear smart watch in 2016. Due to high demand, the company increased production from 12,00 units per week to 2000 units per week.

Tag Heuer awards two-year warranty for their 2016 Android Wear with an offer to replace the watch with special edition Carrera Watch. The offer was available for Tag Heuer Connected owners at all branches of the company and authorized dealers.

It is expected that a similar exchange offer can be made for upcoming Tag Heuer Android Wear Connected 2.0. in 2016, at the launching event of Tag Heuer Connected, Biver termed the device as "the new chapter in wearable devices"
