"Deadpool 2" promises to be just as exciting, crazy, and hilarious as its predecessor. Marvel hasn't revealed much about the storyline, but social media photos regarding the possible cast have circulated around the web. The most recent one involves Pierce Brosnan as Cable and Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine. How true are these reports?

"Deadpool 2" writers strip down Cable's backstory to the essentials

Last Jan. 16, "Deadpool 2" writers revealed that they had made major cuts to a backstory of one X-Men character. According to NME, time constraints and creative elements forced the writers to slash off some parts of Cable's origin story. They said that the character would still be Cable and his essential backstory will still be there, but they wouldn't be able to show a big chunk of it if they wanted to get on with the rest of the story.

Cable's real name is Nathan Summers and he is the son of Scott Summers (a.k.a. Cyclops.) and a Jean Grey clone. After getting injected with a virus, Nathan was taken to the future to survive. He came back to the present as a bounty hunter and became part of the X-Men. There's no official news about the actor cast to play Cable in "Deadpool 2".

Kyle Chandler from "Bloodline" is a strong contender for the role. John Cena, Dolph Lundgren, and Stephen Lang were also rumored to get the role, but an Instagram photo has fans speculating whether it will be a James Bond actor. Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, is not social media-shy. He uploaded a photo that showed Hugh Jackman, Pierce Brosnan, and himself sitting together on the couch, with the caption "Wolvie. Bond. Wade."

Fans fear Pierce Brosnan joining the "Deadpool 2" cast as Cable

That is not an official confirmation, but it certainly didn't stop fans from voicing out their disappointment on Twitter. Inverse reports several people claiming they won't see the movie because Brosnan was cast as Cable. To clarify, there has been no official confirmation about Cable's actor. More importantly, this was nearly the same reaction from social media when it was announced that Ben Affleck was playing Batman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

Even Heath Ledger's role as The Joker in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" was initially received with skepticism. It wasn't until fans saw the movie that they changed their tune. If Brosnan will be cast as cable, viewers should remember to put off judgment until they've actually seen the movie. Meanwhile, Comicbook released an artwork depicting Brosnan as Cable, if ever the actor will land the role (although there's also another one showing a fierce Keira Knightley as the bounty hunter).
