The "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off "Mayans MC" is currently underway. Fans are asking how the story will unfold. FX already ordered a pilot episode of the spin-off. If the premiere garners high viewer ratings, then the studio will order a full series.

"Sons of Anarchy" spin-off is set post-Jax Teller

The show's creator, Kurt Sutter, appeared on Tom Arnold's podcast and talked about the spin-off. According to the Nerd Core Movement, Sutter wanted to plan a prequel and sequel to his crime drama series. The creator said that "Sons of Anarchy" was the first half of the story, with "Mayans MC" being the second half.

"Mayans MC" is set after the death of Charlie Hunnam's character, Jax Teller. The "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off will be about a Latino-based club by Marcus Alvarez. The spin-off, which Sutter and Elgin James wrote, will introduce fans to Mexican-influenced charters around the country, especially Southern California.

New cast and setting in "Mayans MC"

Sutter envisions the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off to last for more than one season. He will be handling and directing the first season, but he said that he will hand over the reins after Season 1. "Sons of Anarchy" ended in 2014, but the new story will start with the day after Jax's actions, which left a lot of people dead.

Fans will also have to wait with bated breath for the prequel. Sutter hinted that, after the "Mayans MC", it will be a prequel that had been teased at before "Sons of Anarchy" even aired in 2008. Meanwhile, TMZ asked Charlie Hunnam about the new series. The "Pacific Rim" actor said he was pretty sure that Jax wouldn't be coming back from the dead. But that doesn't rule out other ways for him to make a cameo.

Flashbacks could happen, of course. But Sutter said that most of the major "Sons of Anarchy" cast members will not appear in the "Mayans MC" since the spin-off will take place close to the Mexican border. Emilio Rivera, though, will return as Marcus Alvarez.
