With the iPhone 7 in the market, Apple is once again on the rise. Latest sales figures indicate that not only is iPhone 7 selling like hotcakes, its sales managed to turn around the tech giant's revenue, which was shrinking for the past three quarters.

Since the iPhone 7 launched in September 2016, Apple's latest smartphone managed to post record sales for the last three months of 2016. In fact, the smartphone's sales managed to reverse Apple's dwindling revenue which continued to fall for the previous three-quarters, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Recently released earnings figures show that actual iPhone 7 sales outperformed forecasts by 2 million units. For the fourth quarter, the new smartphone sold a total 78.3 units, which significantly exceeded previous estimates of 76.3 million, reports Tech Crunch.

The iPhone 7 managed to lure a significant number of Andriod users as well. For the fourth quarter, Apple's share in the smartphone segment rose to around 18 percent, which is a significant 5 percent increase compared to last year's figures.

iPhone's winning streak has been attributed to a lot of factors. It can be recalled that Samsung experienced dwindling sales during the same period last year, mainly because of its exploding phablet issue. The model also reaped the benefits of an improving smartphone market which has shown recovery most notably in China and Africa.

While these external factors have no doubt contributed to the success of iPhone 7 last quarter, it cannot be denied that the smartphone is actually a very good product. The new model has its share of criticisms but these have not dampened consumer appetite which only means that end users are generally satisfied with the new gadget.

It all boils down to performance. In a speed test done last year, the iPhone 7 came out the winner besting other brands including is then number one rival Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phablet. Running on a new A10 Fusion chipset, the smartphone was also able to beat OnePlus 3 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
