Apple is working on latest iMac, the next generation all-in-one computer system. Its final announcement was expected at the company's event last October but due to unknown reasons, iMac launch was delayed.

According to Macworld, Apple gave the last update on iMacs in October 2015 by introducing Retina class resolution in iMac brands. Apple is expected to announce updates and release date for new iMac in the near future.

Although nothing credible is available about the official launch date of iMacs but some sources have confirmed from Apple CEO Tim Cook who indicated that iMacs are on the cards. Tim Cook was replying to a question on their internal employee network.

Tim Cook termed iMac desktop computers as "strategic" for them. Desktop computers have larger RAM, storage, and processors that can accommodate server and workstation capabilities. Therefore, desktop computers will remain strategic until their best successors, the laptops, are not made competent enough.

If Apple materializes the next generation iMacs and Macbooks, there must be a befitting iOS and application platform. According to some responsible speculations, iMacs might officially be launched round about June this year.

The next generation iMacs appear to have i7-7700 or more precisely i7-7700K processors. Techtimes reported that new iMac can have 5K retina display powered by enhanced graphics card and resolution. Like Apple's new MacBook Pro, iMacs can be equipped with a touch bar option.

There are also some speculations that Apple is planning to house Kaby Lake processor from Intel. Next best choice is Intel's Xeon processor. Xeon processor is currently powering servers and workstations. These processors specifically deal with error correcting code memory.

New iMacs are also speculated for Virtual Reality (VR) features. A Polaris 11 or Polaris 10 GPU is the best candidate for the upcoming iMacs in this regard. As compared to its predecessors, new iMacs could be slimmer and smarter than ever.

Touch ID and security functions and USB type-C thunderbolt ports can be best options for iMacs connectivity resources. Credible speculators are targeting the next CES or spring this year for the official launch of iMacs including iPad Pro2 devices.
