Rihanna Checks In As Marion Crane In ‘Bates Motel’ Season 5 Trailer

Rihanna is finally shown in a new "Bates Motel" Season 5 trailer. In the series' fifth and final season, it is expected that certain elements will connect the show to its big screen counterpart, the iconic Alfred Hitchcock directed film "Psycho."

One of those elements that will bridge the television series and the movie is Rihanna, who will portray the iconic role of Marion Crane. When "Bates Motel" Season release date arrives later this month, Rihanna as Marion Crane will make one seemingly inconsequential mistake - her choice of motel that will lead to her tragic fate.

While showrunners previously expressed that they have certain freedom on how to interpret and portray events in the original Alfred Hitchcock movie, it now appears that the tragic fate of the character portrayed by Rihanna will not change even in the small screen adaptation. In the recently released "Bates Motel" Season 5 trailer, Marion Crane is seen checking into the motel ran by the series' main villain, Norman Bates.

It now appears that "Bates Motel" Season 5 will also remain faithful to the source material when it reenacts the death scene of the character played by Rihanna. In the original "Psycho" film, Marion Crane was killed in that iconic shower scene, which is hinted at by the recent trailer when Norman starts peeking through a hole in the wall, most likely at a bathing Crane.

While fans already know that Norman has now fully transformed into a dangerous mentally unstable man, he will be able to hide this aspect from his community. When "Bates Motel" Season 5 air date arrives, it will be set around two years from the fourth season's finale and will show a seemingly happy and well-adjusted young Norman as far as his White Pine Bay community is concerned, reports Coming Soon.

Aside from Rihanna, "Bates Motel" Season 5 will also star Vera Farmiga, who will still play as Norma, Norman Bate's mother, as previously reported by Screener TV. While Norma died in season 4, she will still be very much alive in Norman's mind, hence, Farmiga will still be reprising her role.

"Bates Motel" Season 5 premieres on February 20.
