'21 Jump Street' fans have the right to get excited (and to be an attorney if you really want to..) because Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are returning to the big screen together in 2014, reprising their roles as everyone's favorite undercover cops.

Sony Studios has finally revealed the release date for the sequel movie, '21 Jump Street 2,' and Tatum & Hill will be heading off to college for their next Jump Street assignment, starting June 6, 2014, reports Deadline.

When '21 Jump Street' hit theatres in 2012, it was unexpected that the R-rated comedy, based on a 1980's television series about cops, would become one of the funniest movies of the year. Viewers were pleasantly surprised by the movie's hilarity and couldn't get enough of the "bromance" shared between Channing & Jonah's beloved characters, Jenko & Schmidt.

The 2014 sequel is being co-written by Hill and Michael Bacall and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller once again, and it will continue to explore the special relationship between the two under-achieving cops even further (only this time in a college setting).

The first movie concluded with a scene where Captain Dickinson (Ice Cube) gave his two "Jump Street" cops a new undercover assignment:

"Since you two cowboys love to drink booze, smoke weed with kids, and f*ck anything with a big ass in jeans with low self-esteem, I'm gonna send you to a place where all that sh*t is allowed...you two sons of bitc*es are going to college!"

This cliffhanger ending led many viewers to believe that there would be a follow-up film continuing the story line, and producer Neal Moritz confirmed the hunch in an interview with Collider.

"It leads off where we ended the last film and our guys are going to college...Now they're actual partners, so they're married - what happens once marriage starts? In certain ways, it's kind of like the Seven Year Itch of police buddy comedies. What worked so well about the first one was - it was funny, yes, there was good action, yes - but really what worked more than anything was that there was great heart. That's the thing we've been working really hard on, just try and make sure that the heart of the first one is there for the second one."

While Channing Tatum & Jonah Hill will obviously be reprising their "heart-felt" starring roles in the film, Moritz revealed that Ice Cube will also be following the boys to college when he continues acting as the outspoken Captain Jack in "21 Jump Street 2."

The producer hinted that there will be other familiar faces in the sequel's supporting cast as well, but "quite a few people" will be added this time around.

Moritz continued in the Collider interview, "It's been nice, people like the movie so much that there's been a number of people who have come forward and said, "I'd like to be in that movie" or "I'd like to do a cameo in that movie" or something like that. "

The first "21 Jump Street," which grossed over $200 million worldwide, featured brief appearances by Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) and original 21 Jump Street-ers Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise, notes Screen Rant. In the sequel movie, which was granted a bigger budget than the original, viewers can apparently expect to see more celebrities, more action, more debauchery, and more hilarious banter exchanged between Channing and Jonah this summer.

The sequel script is still a work in progress at this point:

"Right now, we got a first draft that we're pleased and the second draft is coming along. We're supposed to start shooting in late September, early October," Moritz explains.

We only have to wait another year to see our boys back in action. After watching Channing & Jonah stir up enough trouble in high school, we can only imagine the type of shenanigans chaos that they will get into when they "infiltrate" the college scene "Animal House" style. Stay tuned for the "21 Jump Street" sequel to debut in June 2014...until then let's relive some of the funniest moments from the original:
