After years of putting the project on hold, world-famous director James Cameron has confirmed that production for "Avatar 2" will kick off soon. The sequel is set for release during the holiday season of 2018. Further developments on production are expected to be announced as the months pass.

"Avatar 2" has been held up for the past years. The delays have led fans to speculate that the movie may not be finished for its Dec. 2018 supposed launch. However, Cameron seems to be confident this time that the sequel will be done by then. He recently confirmed that the script for "Avatar 5" has been completed.

Speaking with The Daily Beast, Cameron explained that instead of focusing on "Avatar 2" solely, he is developing the other three sequels simultaneously. "They've all been developed equally," he said. He added that the cast may finally be rallied by August of this year. The "Terminator" director further explained that his schedule is "fully booked" at the moment due to production for the upcoming "Avatar" films.

Cameron went on to reveal that "everything is designed." This is the biggest drop regarding development for "Avatar 2" yet. Silence from production has raised concerns over the movie's release in the past months. However, it appears now that things are running smoothly and fans may no longer hear of any delays.

Meanwhile, The Independent reports that 20th Century Fox may have dropped a bomb on the exact release date of "Avatar 2." According to the outlet, the film giant has set a Dec. 20, 2018 launch for a yet-to-be-titled movie from the great James Cameron. For starters, "Avatar" was released to fans Dec. 17, 2009. While Cameron has yet to confirm the official launch date of the much-awaited sequel, a Christmas 2018 drop would make the most sense.

"Avatar 2" will bring back Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver as Grace, and the great Stephen Lang as Col. Quaritch. New cast members have yet to be announced. Stay tuned for more updates.
