J.J. Abrams reportedly has started working on a new movie project called "Overlord". Some people might connect it with a video game which has the same name but Abrams' "Overlord" is a WWII movie, which nothing like regular war movies. The director of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is working with Julius Avery, the director of "Son of A Gun". Before he gained acknowledgments from "Son of A Gun", Avery was known to direct several short films that eventually landed him on the acclaimed thriller.

As reported by IGN, Abrams came up with the "Overlord" story with Billy Ray, who was also the scriptwriter of "Captain Phillips" and "The Hunger Games". The director pair has finished writing the script for "Overlord" with the final touch from Mark L. Smith, who co-wrote "The Revenant" with Oscar-winning- director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. With these brilliant minds behind the story, people can expect that "Overlord" will offer a brand new historical WWII movie with a touch of science-fiction and thriller.

According to Variety, "Overlord" will follow the story of two paratroopers who get trapped behind enemy lines after their plane hits the ground in a mission to demolish German radio tower in an area outside Normandy. The two paratroopers find out another scary mission that The Nazi has besides winning the war, which is a secret experiment to build supernatural forces to help them pursue their agenda.

"Overlord" was initially acquired by Paramount in 2007, and has gained some positive feedbacks ever since Avery joins in to direct the film. Some production house executives are reported to have a meeting with talents to play the lead role of two soldiers, although no names are mentioned in the report. The brainchild of Abrams, Ray, and Avery is expected to hit the theater in 2018. So, just wait for new updates for "Overlord" production process to find out more about the cast and official release date.
