Pixel 2 Specs: Google Pixel 2 To Feature Waterproof Capabilities, Enhanced CPU, Camera

The rumor mill on Google Pixel 2 continues to make rounds on the internet, with leaks on the devices' powerful hardware and waterproofing capabilities.

New leaks on the upcoming Pixel 2 are being revealed from multiple sources, which indicates improved chipsets and focus on camera functions. While Google has been testing many versions of the upcoming Pixel 2 smartphone, the Pixel 2B is rumored to be the series' basic version.

Now, several rumors on the Pixel 2's specs and features suggest that it will indeed bring waterproof capabilities. According to a tipster from 9to5 Google, Stephen Hall wrote in a post that the Google Pixel this year will be waterproof. To recall, this waterproof feature was absent on the original Google Pixel released in 2016.

According to Ubergizmo, the reasons why the waterproof feature was not included on the first version of Pixel were due to time constraints, conflict between the camera's hardware and waterproofing, and the phone's price point.

According to reports, the upcoming Pixel 2 will bring a certification of IP67 or IP68 for waterproofing. Through this, users can dunk their phones to a depth of 1 to 1 ½ meters for a half an hour.

Moving on to the Google Pixel 2's hardware settings, the device is tested on multiple mobile SoCs. Some of its units are powered by Snapdragon 83X CPU and Intel chipsets, but it seemed that the company is also collaborating with MediaTek, which has recently been cut with the Pixel 2 production.

In terms of RAM, the Pixel 2 smartphone may either be released in 4GB or 6GB RAM. Pixel 2 may include a Quick Charge 4.0 technology if Google will go with the Snapdragon 835 CPU, providing five hours of battery from a 5-minute charge.

On the camera front, 9to5 Google reported that Google is aiming to master low light photography with the next-generation device. However, no further information on the camera resolutions is determined, aside from the rumor that the phone's camera will "not have large MP size" but will rather "compensate in extra features."

As for the Pixel 2's pricing, Google is expecting a price of around $50 increment from the original Pixel device, as it will be determined by the waterproof capabilities and powerful processor. The lower budget end variant, on the other hand, will be considerably cheaper.
