'Santa Clarita Diet' Season 2 Spoilers: More Crazy Situations; Sheila Continues To Deteriorate

Netflix has come up with another fresh hit franchise with 'Santa Clarita Diet', earning positive reviews from viewers who are already clamoring for the second season of the zombie comedy. Netflix has not confirmed the greenlighting of Season 2 but it seems inevitable given the cliffhanger ending that left the Hammonds "off the rails."

With only a few days since its release, the series has already garnered a 68 percent fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics while audience response has been positive at 79 percent. Those who shared their insights on the show praised the new series for its unique premise, humor and strong cast. The reviewers warned that the casual approach to gore may not be appealing to everyone.

As 'Santa Clarita Diet' Season 1 set the stage for the Hammonds and the sudden death of Sheila because of mysterious causes, it revolved around her subsequent craving for a raw meat of the human variety and the way her normal suburban family tried to deal with the problem with as much normalcy as possible. However, there were many more questions left by the concluding episode that caused the fans' hopes that the series will still have a second season.

While Netflix has not confirmed production for a second season, series creator Victor Fresco has hinted in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he is not done with telling the story of Sheila, Joel, Abby, Erik and the rest of the cast of 'Santa Clarita Diet'. As a matter of fact, he shared that unraveling everything in Episode 10 was intended to lead them into the events of a second season.

He pointed out that during the last episode, all of the stress of his new normal was finally catching up with Joel leading him to a sense of acceptance and resignation that his wife will never return to the way she used to be. He said that Joel was coming to realize that the crisis that was Sheila being undead was the best thing to happen to his family in a long time. However, the Hammonds would have to deal with the state of Sheila's deterioration in 'Santa Clarita Diet' Season 2, and this is what the viewers will look forward to as the story continues.

"With any family, crazy situations can be introduced any day, and the strength of the family will determine how they react to those situations, which is where we'll find our characters," he teased.
