Melissa Benoist, who plays the vibrant titular superhero in "Supergirl", dished out some information regarding the Luthors and what her relationship is with that family. As many viewers and comic readers know, the Luthors, Lex Luthor in particular, are a thorn in the side of Superman. But Kara Danvers, the female counterpart of Clark Kent, will be dealing mostly with Lillian Luthor and her daughter, Lena.

In the Monday episode of "Supergirl", Lillian Luthor busts out of jail and Lena, who is already mistrusted by Kara Danvers' crew, is seen to be the main culprit. Melisa Benoist's character, though, still believes in Lena despite all the damning pieces of evidence pointing towards her. The actress said that Supergirl is in conflict with plenty of people around her, ComicBook.com wrote.

Nobody can exactly trust a Luthor and Melissa Benoist highlighted that in an interview. She also said that Kara does not want to mistrust Lena, as she had shown that she wanted to change the world. That is regardless of her family's background. So Supergirl maintains her belief that Lena, even though she is a Luthor, is capable of genuine goodness.

The relationship between Kara and the Luthor family's black sheep sure is a complicated one. But Lex Luthor's sister has been trying hard to get away from her family's shadow and to shake off the bad vibes that come with her last name, CinemaBlend said. "...She doesn't want to subscribe to her family's narrative," Melissa Benoist explained.

This season of "Supergirl" is going to see more of the Luthors, but Lex may not be dropping by National City anytime soon. After all, his mother and his sister are doing enough to keep the narrative interesting. In addition, Melissa Benoist's kindhearted Kara Danvers has enough in her hands with two Luthors to contend with.
