The 2017 Grammys was probably one of the most memorable yet in the history of the awards show. Adele nailed the tribute for George Michael. Bruno Mars, on the other hand, allowed fans to relive the memory of the highly acclaimed Prince.

Fans who weren't able to watch the tributes to two of the greatest music icons have one question: did Bruno Mars do justice to the late "Purple Rain" singer? Most critics believe Mars was able to deliver.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Bruno Mars was one of the singers who could dress up in Prince's iconic purple suit. For the outlet, Mars was someone who could live up to the reputation that Prince branded in the heart of every stage he performed in.

Bruno Mars sang to the tune of "Let's Go Crazy." While some fans initially expected that he would take on "Purple Rain," the "Grenade" singer may have chosen something more fun to liven up the Grammys and to reminisce the entertainment that Prince offered when he was alive.

The audience sang and danced to Bruno Mars' rendition of one of the hottest songs from Prince. However, some critics noted that there was still something missing. Mars' performance seems to have missed out on a very crucial element that has always been linked to Prince since his shocking death.

According to the New Yorker, Bruno Mars "highly choreographed" performance at this year's Grammys did not "let in sadness." The outlet points out that sadness is a very important element when talks about Prince are opened up.

The shocking death of the iconic "Purple Rain" singer in April of last year has led to many questions that are left unanswered. A remaster of the 1984 classic will be released in June. Along with the Prince classic comes with two albums of unreleased music that fans have been waiting to hear.

Ever since his passing, some fans are still grieving. Prince seems to have left a void that even the amazing Bruno Mars cannot fill.
