RL Stine regaled children with horror stories in his "Goosebumps" and "Fear Street" series. In 2015, a film was released revolving around RL Stine's works coming to life. Now, with franchises popping up like mushrooms, RL Stine fans will see "Goosebumps 2" and "Fear Street" in the theaters.

The first "Goosebumps" movie blended comedy and horror and paid tribute to a childhood horror hero and was well-received by its intended audience. "Goosebumps 2" hopes to do the same. RL Stine wrote a post on Twitter last Feb. 8 about how excited he was that Sony Columbia is planning a "Goosebumps" sequel for 2018.

According to Jo Blo, Darren Lemke will be penning the script for "Goosebumps 2". Rob Letterman will also return to direct the sequel and Jack Black is set to reprise his role as the author himself, RL Stine. The film is still in the early planning stages, so there's still no word about the stories that will be depicted in the sequel.

Meanwhile, another one of Stine's famous series is getting the movie treatment. Screen Rant reports that "Fear Street" will also be hitting the theaters soon. Although "Goosebumps" has a bigger audience and more global fame, Stine actually published his "Fear Street" series first for an older and more mature audience.

20th Century Fox will handle the production of "Fear Street" and has tapped Kyle Killen to write the script. Killen is well-known for creating the TV series "Lone Star", "Awake", and "Mind Games". He was also the writer behind the 2011 film "The Beaver" starring Mel Gibson.

The "Fear Street" film will differ from the meta-story approach of "Goosebumps". In fact, Stine wrote on Twitter that there might be more than one "Fear Street" movie on the way. He went on to say that this horror film for the older audience will be an original story and will be more straightforward than "Goosebumps".
