A new IMAX poster for "Kong: Skull Island" reveals that Kong is taking on a whole squadron of helicopters. The movie which combines the King of Monsters (Godzilla) and King Kong, features a trip back to the mysterious and deadly home of the king of the apes.

"Kong: Skull Island" will showcase a team of explorers who journey deep into the treacherous, primordial island in search of the leader's brother as well as a mythical serum, encountering supernatural creatures along the way.

The franchise started back in 2014 with Gareth Edwards' Godzilla reboot and will launch March this year. Even though "Kong: Skull Island" is not entirely an original story, it seeks to introduce a new cinematic version of the Eighth Wonder of the World and has some connections to Godzilla's Warner Bros.

Pictures and Legendary Pictures have done a good job in marketing the picture, relying heavily on the influence of Skull Island's Vietnam War with a collection of posters that place the giant ape front and center.
A blockbuster like "Kong: Skull Island," which features a famous movie monster like King Kong, is made for big of screens, which is the reason why it will be screening on IMAX.

A new one-sheet places the emphasis on the premium format. The latest poster is similar to the ones released during the campaign, showing Kong against a sunset as six helicopters approach him.
However, it looks like Kong is not alone on "Kong: Skull Island". EW reports that he has an impressive cast line-up of human co-stars supporting him including  Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Corey Hawkins, Samuel L. Jackson, John Ortiz, Terry Notary, John Goodman,  Jing Tian, John C. Reilly, Thomas Mann, Toby Kebbell, Shea Whigham, and Jason Mitchell.

Fans believe that this collection of talent would help "Kong: Skull Island" stand out when it premieres. Fans of the franchise believe that this stellar of actors should be able to put up an amazing performance as the upcoming movie is looking to blend some humour and lightness with the drama. The trailers suggest that Reilly is going to be responsible for a lot of the levity, but every other character will be capable of handling both tones, Screenrant reports.

Fans really can't wait to see how the characterizations will be handled, as there is a potential for "Kong: Skull Island" to be a typical creature feature judging by the level of actors involved. However, fans are hoping that one of the criticisms of Godzilla, which states that it did not have a compelling human element, is fixed in the upcoming movie.

The director of "Kong: Skull Island," Jordan Vogt-Roberts is said to be inexperienced in terms of helming big-budget genre movies, but it seems he has made the jump from indies to blockbusters. The footage revealed teases a visually-stunning treat that almost demands to be seen in IMAX to fully appreciate.

As already mentioned, "Kong: Skull Island" will be directed by Vogt-Roberts and scripted by John Gatins and Max Borenstein. It will be produced by Legendary's John Jashni and Thomas Tull as well as Mary Parent. The creators have promised that the story will honour the foundations of the existing King Kong lore, but will place "Kong: Skull Island" in an entirely new timeline.
