The anime voice cast for the said characters will be reprising their roles in"Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry". As for new characters, the film will have the beautiful Sonia, the evil and strong-looking Zash and the Animus, who has a persona of a king.

Hiro Mashima, known as the creator of the series, has actively participated in the production of "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" as its executive producer. According to Anime News Network, the manga artist made the rough sketches of the characters for the movie, as well as sketching around 200 storyboards for the series' second theatrical feature.

Directing "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" is Tatsuma Minamikawa, known for his projects "Attack of Titan" and "Hanagai NEXT". Scriptwriter Shoji Yonemura and composer Yasuharu Takanashi from the "Fairy Tail" anime series will be bringing their talents to the movie.

"Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess" was the first big screen outing of the "Fairy Tail" series. Released in 2012, the "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" precursor received positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Mashima was also involved in the production, serving as both story planner and character designer.
