Xiaomi Mi 6 Specs: New Mi 6 Leak Hints Two Chipset, Display Variants; Debunks Previous Leak

The rumor mill continues to reveal the specs of the upcoming Xiaomi flagship, Xiaomi Mi 6, in the past few months. On a recent leak, the said device is claimed to come in two variants in terms of its internal memory and display resolution.

The latest information on Xiaomi Mi 6 comes from the industry insider, who revealed the specs and features of the device in the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. According to BGR, the said post suggested two devices under the Mi 6 moniker. The basis will be on the devices' onboard storage and screen resolution.

Following the post, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will come in two variants; one with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a Full HD panel, while another device will bring an internal storage of up to 64GB and display a QHD screen resolution. The latter will also sport a 4GB of RAM inside.

Although the difference in storage options and RAM are clichés among smartphone releases, the modification in display resolution may suggest a "Standard" version of the Mi 6 and a "Pro" Mi 6 variant.

Furthermore, the Weibo leak unveiled the camera sensors equipped in the Mi 6. The said device will feature a 12-megapixel primary rear camera, coupled with Sony's IMX386 sensor, NDTV has learned. On the other hand, its 8-megapixel front-facing snapper will be armed with Sony's IMX268 sensor.

Going back to the Weibo leak, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to feature a flat screen, which could be a 5.2-inch HD TFT LCD panel. The new information is in contrast with the previous rumors indicating a dual-edge curved display coming in the Mi 6 device.

More rumors revealed the mobile chipset coming in the Mi 6 device. Based on reports, two sets of chipsets will power the device; one variant will carry a Helio X30 chipset priced at around RMB 1,999, while another variant will be fueled by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage pegged at RMB 2,499.

Furthermore, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will house a 3,000mAh battery and will include a USB Type-C port for connectivity. Its operation system will most likely run the Android 7.0 Nougat firmware with the company's very own MIUI OS skin layered on top.

On the downside, the Xiaomi did not announce the unveiling of Mi 6 smartphone at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
