Samsung Showcases New Galaxy Tab S3 as Flagship Phones No-Show at MWC 2017

South Korean tech company Samsung has a lot to make up for in 2017. As the company won't be having the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagship devices at the Mobile World Congress 2017, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 would have to do for now.

Recently, leaks for Samsung's device for the MWC 2017 made rounds on some sites, giving a good preview of Samsung's newest offering. According to BGR, the leaks came from the National Communications Commission, Taiwan's take on the FCC.

Featuring a 9.7-inch display, Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 reportedly packs a Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm with a 4GB RAM and Wi-Fi connectivity. The device also comes with either 32GB or 128GB internal storage, a fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C connection.

Another feature of Samsung's newest tab is the keyboard case that comes along with the device. As the Verge reported, the keyboard attachment looks like the iPad Pro keyboard's long lost twin, with well-spread keys and combined vertical arrows.

The Tab S3 will be competing in the already competitive tablet market with another Samsung offering, the Google OS-driven "Chromebooks". Marketed as the new productivity devices, "Chromebooks" are a collaboration between Samsung and Google that aims to create powerful and portable productivity devices. While this may seem like a threat for the tablets, recent reviews for the device point out some concerns with its support of Android apps.

The Galaxy S8 carries a 4GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage with microSD capability, a 12-megapixel back camera, an 8-megapixel front cam and wireless charging, among others. it would also carry a Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 processor, packed in a 5.8-inch screen. The Galaxy S8+, on the other hand, will pack the same power but on a 6.2-inch phone.

Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are scheduled to release in the U.S. on March 29, 2017, while a worldwide release is slated for April 21, 2017. Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will release at the MWC 2017 event on February 26, 2017.
