Disney released the newest trailer for "Cars 3," the much-awaited new entry into the "Cars" series. And where else could a trailer for animated film about racecars be revealed than the NASCAR opener Daytona 500 event.

The third trailer for the Disney-Pixar film is both a reversal and a reprisal for Lightning McQueen, voiced by Owen Wilson. Known as the rookie sensation on the first "Cars" movie, "Cars 3" places the red-and-yellow speedster on the position of the season veteran that is up against a newer and younger competition.

"Cars 3" pits McQueen against Jackson Storm, described as faster and stronger in the trailer, Cinema Blend reported. Looking both sleek and fierce with its Tron-inspired black-and-purple design, Storm proves to be a match for #95, leading to the busted tire that had him roll in the air and end up as a wreck that was seen from the first "Cars 3" trailer.

This incident could lead to the whole tale of "Cars 3", with GameSpot suggesting that the film will revolve on McQueen's recovery and subsequent return to the racing scene. With the trailer showing some scenes of Lightning training on the dirt tracks, as well as picking up from the 'fabulous' Hudson Hornet, "Cars 3" is definitely shaping up to be an exciting return to Radiator Springs.

Speaking of Radiator Springs, the trailers have yet to show the memorable residents of the once-lifeless area. While most of the residents brought additional flare to the charming world of "Cars," none has been revealed about them. Even Lightning's best friend Mater, voiced by Larry the Cable Guy, has not been seen.

"Cars 3," with its focus back to Lightning McQueen, is gearing up to be both a commercial and critical success for the studio.

Lightning McQueen and "Cars 3" will be running for pole position on June 2017.
