The upcoming sequel for 2016's "Deadpool" is getting a lot of buzz recently. With news of a new production schedule and another name on the list for Cable, "Deadpool 2" is definitely becoming a big deal for Fox and its "X-Men" franchise.

News about the production date for "Deadpool 2" being moved from early May to mid-June have circulated, following the addition of Drew Goddard to the writing team for the movie. Despite the schedule change, Comic Book confirms that plans for the filming are still intact, and that the change would only give the writing staff more time to build a story worthy of "Deadpool 2."

On the other hand, another big name in Hollywood is eyeing the currently-vacant role of Cable. According to Movieweb, Russell Crowe and "Deadpool" creator Rob Liefeld had a discussion via the social media site Twitter regarding the said role. As Crowe hinted that Ryan Reynolds could find a way if he is interested, Liefeld stated that it would be an irresistible notion for the "Gladiator" star to play as Cable for "Deadpool 2."

Recently, the position for another new character for "Deadpool 2," Domino, is being reportedly tested by "Scandal" actress Kerry Washington. While keeping mum about the issue, she did state that she is interested in the role if it would be given to her. Execs for "Deadpool 2" have not released a statement about her inclusion as well.

Goddard is also another new addition to the team, helping out scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Initial reports about the inclusion of Goddard, who was the showrunner for Netflix's "Daredevil", raised concerns that the Reese-Wernick tandem would not be working for "Deadpool 2" anymore, though Reynolds himself debunked the rumor.

"Deadpool 2" will be joining another X-Men film, "The New Mutants", as part of the films Fox will be releasing in 2018.
