Nintendo Switch, the company's newest console offering, promises to let players enjoy their games at home or on the go. To prove their statement regarding the battery life of the Nintendo Switch, a test was conducted, with some interesting results.

Nintendo claims that the Switch, on portable mode, will last from two and a half to six hours depending on the settings. GameXplain, a YouTube channel dedicated to gaming, places the device on its highest possible settings. With screen brightness and audio maxed out, WiFi turned on, and with the game "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" running, the Nintendo Switch is ready for the test. Also they have fully charged the Joy-Cons to make sure it does not drain the battery further.

As Mashable reported, the 15% battery notification on the Nintendo Switch appeared after two hours, with the device going into sleep mode almost half an hour later. This means that on its highest settings, the Switch can last up to two and a half hours, keeping up with the promised expectations. However, as this was done with max settings, lowering them would also extend the battery life of the device.

On the other hand, media outlets that have tried out Nintendo Switch have noticed several issues with the device. VentureBeat reported that for a portable console, the Switch isn't exactly the easiest thing to travel with. It also cited the device's lack of the Nintendo Virtual Console, which allows players to have access to older Nintendo games on other devices. Another concern were the Joy-Cons, with the left one having connectivity issues.

Hopefully, with the official release of the Nintendo Switch followed by a Day One patch release, these issues could be fixed. The Switch definitely has a lot of potential, and it would be sad if some bugs prevented it from rising to the top of the console wars.

Nintendo Switch will officially come out on March 3, 2017.
